What is an LED?

LED stands for “light emitting diode” and it is a semiconductor device that converts an electrical current to visible light. It is a self-emitting light source. Because of its relative power efficiency, solid-state design, and long life-span it is a popular building material for a number of product categories: LED architectural lighting, replacing incandescent or fluorescent bulbs in light fixtures both indoor and outdoor.
